Jubilee Immersion Internships
Jubilee’s Immersion Internship Program gives women and men discerning God’s direction for their life the opportunity to explore their gifts for ministry and discern a potential vocational call to ministry in one of four ministry tracks. Immersed in the daily rhythms and life of a vibrant 1,200 member downtown mainline church, just 3 blocks from the main gates of the Indiana University campus, interns will be empowered to lead and serve in a supportive, structured, and dynamic environment that includes three distinct ministry cultures and worshiping communities (classic sanctuary, contemporary worship, and college ministry) in one setting. Upon completion of the 2-year Internship Program, interns will have the hands-on experience and theological framework necessary to take the next step of their journey in discerning their unique role as leaders of the next generation of the church
Located in the heart of downtown Bloomington, First United Methodist Church has a passion for being open to all, serving our community, and making disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world. In 2009, First Methodist launched Jubilee, a ministry for college students and young adults.
Interns will work about 12 hours per week from the end of August until the beginning of May for 2 years. Financial compensation will be $4,000 per year for the internship program. Interns must be available for at least one week of the summer for conferences and continuing education, and the week before school starts each fall for intern orientation. Interns are responsible for assisting with the leadership of our Jubilee College Ministry, as well as leading in other areas of the larger First Methodist community. While many expectations for all interns will be similar, each internship will also function in a specialized and unique area of ministry. Possible ministry areas include:
- Service & Mission
- Marketing & Outreach
- Hospitality & Discipleship
