This October as God’s partner people, we will wander the wildernesses with Moses, Miriam, and Aaron in Exodus. We will recall how the freedom of God liberates us to serve, lead, share, and be holy. We will be inspired to greater generosity by stories of the impact our church is making through our ministries.

Join us on October 22nd for Stewardship Celebration Sunday! Please fill out the online pledge form below by then or bring your completed paper pledge form to the service.

Judy Best: Prayer Team

“I have had the privilege of being a part of First Church for many years now. I have seen many pastors and people come and go. As the years have passed, so have the many opportunities to serve. Each time I accept the call to serve I grow in my faith. I am truly blessed to call First Church my faith community! I am now currently being blessed by serving on the Prayer Team. The most amazing insight came to me one day as I was praying for the many people who share their requests with us. We are not so different from one another and do not need to be afraid of our differences. Instead, we need to embrace the blessings we can receive by loving one another and recognizing we all have similar needs. We all want God’s mercy, grace, healing and reconciliation in our relationships. We pray for our families and friends and coworkers. I am so thankful to this church because we do recognize everyone should be welcome here!”

Xander Rogers: Tech Booth Volunteer

“I love being part of the church youth group and volunteering for the tech booth. Youth group is a place that I can just be myself and not be judged. I have made great friends there. Learning how to do the audio and visual tech for services has sparked my interest in possibly pursuing something in my future that will let me use these skills...and the tech people are pretty cool too!”

First Methodist’s Wish List

We’re proposing a budget of $1,520,000, which is a 3% increase over 2023. However, we relied upon one-time extravagant gifts to meet expenses this year. That means we will need a 19% increase in planned giving to reach our dreams for 2024. We hope you’ll pray about making or increasing your household’s gift in 2024.

An extravagant gift is a one-time, over-and-above contribution to our ministries. Please keep in mind that the items below are examples from our budget, and any extravagant gifts made would support all of our ministries. If you’d like to make an extravagant pledge or gift, please contact Mary Wilson at 812-332-6396.

Here are some examples of potential ministries in the coming year:

  • $13,000 supports a choir accompanist

  • $10,000 covers a monthly mortgage payment

  • $11,500 lets us work with two Jubilee interns

  • $4,000 provides for one choir section leader

  • $2,500 replaces our live-stream computer, allowing better, more consistent streaming of our services

  • $1,700 replaces one of our live-stream cameras, allowing HD streaming of our services

  • $1,000 gives dinner for Jubilee students for a month

  • $197 pays the electricity for one day

  • $100 purchases a new anthem for the choir

  • $75 supports a week’s worth of Sunday School curriculum for all ages of children

  • $25 buys one set of books for confirmation

  • $12 supports a study book for the Discipleship Hour

  • $10 takes a student out for coffee

Thanks for your prayerful consideration! We’re beyond blessed by the generous ways you share the love of Christ with the world.
